Welcome to the Henleaze, Stoke Bishop & Westbury-on-Trym Hub

LinkAge has worked in partnership with The Working Group for Older People (WGOP) to put together a What's on Guide to highlight the range of exciting activities available for individuals in the local area.

Do you love to paint, have a passion for singing or perhaps you're a keen cook or gardener? If so, why not share your skills with us? This could be setting up an activity or volunteering at an existing one, there is always a way to get involved.

working in partnership

The Working Group for Older People (WGOP) aims to promote the health, wellbeing and quality of life for older people within the area of Henleaze, Stoke Bishop and Westbury-on-Trym.

To date the WGOP has organised a number of initiatives including 'Pick-Me-Up Activities' which focus on those older people who have mobility problems, are housebound or have difficulty using public transport. We use Dial-a-Ride transport which both collects and returns people to their own home.

Many people have already enjoyed a variety of trips including Weston-Super-Mare, Oakham Treasures, Tyntesfield, Puxton Park and tea at the Mansion House in Clifton.

We have also responded to other suggestion from older people including: helping to establish 'Westbury Walkers'; providing a street map for new older residents; and installing more seats in Westbury village. During the summer of 2013 we put on the very successful 'North Bristol Festival of Age' in our area.

This working group operates within the Neighbourhood Partnership whose purpose is to address local issues and concerns. Open forum meetings are held at which residents and other service users are encouraged to be more involved within their local community.
